L.Z. Pearson

L.Z. Pearson, 82, Sandusky, entered into eternal rest unexpectedly, Friday October 30th, 2020 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

L.Z. was born July 4, 1938 to Arthur and Laura Mae (Harris) Pearson in Union Springs, Alabama.

He was also raised by his grandmother Annie M. (Tarver) Harris until her passing. He relocated to Sandusky Ohio with his uncle and grandfather to work. He worked at Farrell Cheek and then New Departure Hyatt (General Motors) as a journeyman plumber-pipefitter until his retirement after 31 years in 2001. He served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran.

L.Z. was a devoted member of Porters Memorial CME Church where he helped build the sanctuary with his grandfather and uncle. He loved his role on the kitchen committee and helped out until his health declined. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, and The Ohio State Buckeyes.

He was a member of the UAW local 913, American Legion Post 83, VFW Post 2529, Amvets Post 17.

L.Z. leaves to cherish his memories, his two daughters, Felicia A. Pearson and Monicia L. (Jonathan) Hall both of Sandusky; one son, Roger (Maureen) White, Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren, Marquis D. Pearson, Dayton, OH, Jamar A. Pearson, Miah L. Pearson, and Miana L. Hall, all of Sandusky, OH, and Arrick Pearson of Columbus, OH.; aunt Mary Churchwell of Sandusky, OH; special sister Earnestine (Herb) Russell, New Haven, CT.; special son, Howard (Sharon) Carr of Sandusky, seven great-grandchildren Alexis, Kamoni, Cierra, Parker, Amarje, Amariah, and Cruz ; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Two devoted best friends, Zane (Connie) Vanbarg and James (Earnestine) Davis.

L.Z. was preceded in death by his parents, devoted wife, Judy, in 2019; daughter, Patricia Ann in infancy; son, Derrick L. Pearson in 2005; grandson, Darian L. Pearson in 2001; great-granddaughter, LaQuiera in infancy; sister, Annie Pearson in 1986; brother, Douglas MacArthur in 2003, step-father, Norman Alexander in 2008.

Friends may call Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Private services will be held for the family. Minister Howard Carr will provide the eulogy. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
