Colet Joanne (Shepherd) Foley

Colet Joanne (Shepherd) Foley, 92, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Sunday morning, October 25, 2020 at home following a lengthy illness.

Colet was born on September 10, 1928 in Sandusky, OH to the late William Leonard and Colet (Singler) Shepherd Sr.

Colet graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1946 and received her Bachelor of Education from Ohio Dominican University. In her early years, she taught at both Jackson Junior High and Providence Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from St. Mary's Elementary school as an 8th grade Language Arts teacher in 1990 after 20 plus years of service. Colet was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader. Colet was an accomplished seamstress.

Colet is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert Foley Sr., whom she married on November 15, 1952. She is also survived by her daughters, Colet (Joseph) Samstag of Winterville, NC, Susan (Joel) Appelhans of Toledo, OH and Julie Foley of Casselberry, FL; sons, Robert (Lauren) Jr. of Westerville, OH and John (Ellen) Foley of Toledo, OH; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Colet is preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Foley on October 15, 2020 and 3 brothers, Leonard Jr., Joseph, and John Shepherd.

A special thanks to Stein Hospice and their exceptionally caring staff and her caregiver, Jackie Simmons.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Monte Hoyles will officiate. Masks are required and please respect social distancing requirements.
