Ed L. Carney, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Ed was born on November 22, 1938 in Sandusky, OH to the late Edward J. Carney and Rose Carney Smoot.
Ed graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1957. He retired from GM after 30 years of service. Ed was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and traveling. He was most proud of his grandchildren, and loved watching them play sports. Ed lived life to the fullest and always followed his motto "I did it my way."
Ed is survived by his two daughters, Krisan (Joe) Dye of Sandusky and Cindy (John) Adymy of NY; grandchildren, Allison Smith, Spencer (Samantha), Wyatt, Carson (Alexis) and Mallory Dye; great-grandchildren, Meadow, Lilly, Arlo, Asa, Austin and Carson Jr. and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his son, Derek Carney and sister, Patricia.
A private family funeral service will be held at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sandusky. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
