Genevieve Teresa (Jacalone) Bing, 96, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday morning, December 3, 2020 at Portland Place following a brief illness.
Genevieve was born on September 6, 1924 in Sandusky, OH to the late Carl F. and Frances (Nicholas) Jacalone.
Genevieve was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She had a green thumb and loved her flowers, especially her hibiscus. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed feeding everyone her spaghetti and meatball dinner.
Genevieve is survived by her children, Carol (Thomas) Baum, Nancy (John) Hagelberger, Thomas (Jen) Bing, James (Shellie) Bing all of Sandusky and Scott (Paula) Bing of Albuquerque, NM; 12 grandchildren, Paul (Carrie) Bing, Jason (Gabbi), Taylor, Lauren and Sawyer Baum, Jennifer (Zach) Buehner, Gina Bing, Adam and Erin Hagelberger and Macie, Avery and Haylie Bing; 3 great-grandchildren, William and Jenna Bing and Addison Baum; brother, Richard (Joyce) Jacalone of MI and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Genevieve is preceded in death by husband, Eugene "Butch" Bing in 2008; daughter, Jeannine Riffle in 2009 and sisters, Idamae Pluckhorn and Beatrice Poggiali.
A private family prayer service will be held at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 7, 2020 at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Father Zach Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
