Elizabeth "Betty" (Sidoti) Pretto, 87, residing in Norwalk, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Gaymont Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Betty was born on October 12, 1933 in Bellevue, OH to the late Joseph and Maria (Lopriesti) Sidoti.
Betty graduated from Bellevue High School in 1951 and went on to earn her B.A. in Vocational Education at The University of Toledo. She retired from Sandusky City Schools in 1994 after 24 years as a cosmetology instructor. Betty was the owner and operator at Bellissimo Beauty Salon, where she found joy with the many friends who were her patrons. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sandusky where she remained active in various ministries within the church for many years, a past president and member of the former I.A.B., and she served on a Christian Women's organization. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, helping others, and shopping.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Annette (Steve) Funni of Monroeville, OH; son, John (Jean) Pretto of Monroeville, OH; five grandchildren, Clint (San) Poths, Dale (Becca) Poths, Rhiannon (Caleb) Buck, Christin (Jeremy) Schafer, and Anthony Funni; eight great-grandchildren, Abbi and Kaci Poths , Ian and Owen Patchen, Jason Poths , Emma and Eve Buck, and Crew Schafer.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her grandson, Jason Poths; husband, Johnny Pretto; brothers, Sam, Tony, Charles, Emiel, James, William and Francis Sidoti; sister, Theresa Terry; and one brother in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 14th, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870 with Fr. Chris Jesudhason presiding. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory in Sandusky is assisting the family with arrangements. A celebration of Betty's life will be held at a later date.
