Keith W. Singer, 96, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday morning, December 20, 2020 at Admiral's Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Keith was born on September 3, 1924 in Cleveland, OH to the late John A. and Gladys M. (McLaughlin) Singer.
Keith graduated from Sandusky High School in 1944. He was a Veteran of the US Army who proudly served his country during World War II, where he was stationed and fought battles in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Keith was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Following the war, he worked at the former Barr Rubber Company and Geo. Canalos, Inc. before retiring from Sandusky Plastics as a maintenance man after many years of service.
Keith was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was also a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post 17, American Legion Post 83, and VFW Post 2529. He enjoyed his conversations with his fellow Vets, and was honored to be chosen for the Honor Flight in October of 2013 to Washington D.C. to place a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers.
Keith is survived by his special friends, Dave and Jackie Streng of Sandusky, Tom and Cindy Shreve of Sandusky, Mike Ciervo of CA and the family of Bob Todd.
In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his fiancée, Muriel Ciervo and sisters, Margaret Bash and Barbara Leto.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mills St., Sandusky. Deacon Jeff Claar will officiate. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
