Robert E. Schippel Sr., 91, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday evening, December 27, 2020 following a brief illness.
Bob was born on September 12, 1929 in Sandusky, OH to the late Dewey and Marie (Hemmer) Schippel Sr.
Bob was a lifelong farmer, and retired from both Routh Packing and Schippel Trucking. He was a member of the American Legion Post 83 and the Erie County Farm Bureau. Bob enjoyed farming, canning, baking, a good homemade meal, and trucking. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his children, Bob (Beverly) Jr. of Sandusky, Michael (Margie) of Sandusky, Debbie (Kevin) Killingsworth of Castalia, Mary Flores of TX, Kathy (Dean) Meyers of Sandusky, Donna (Steve) Colvin of Monroeville, Rick (Tammy) of Sandusky, Ruth (Bob) Duskins of Castalia, Sara (Mitch) Watson of Castalia and Chris (Daren) Baum of Sandusky; 30 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Pauline Durdel of Sandusky; brother, Paul Schippel of Sandusky and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine (Kriemes) Schippel on July 10, 2000; son-in-law, Jose Flores Sr. and brother, Dewey Schippel Jr.
Private family services will be held at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Phil Dinovo will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
