Douglass Leroy Bruce, 91, of Sandusky, was a world traveler, second son of Raymond and Myrtle Bruce, of Pittsburgh, PA, and he peacefully made his transition on December 15, 2020 at Admiral's Pointe, Huron.
Douglass graduated from Oliver High School in Pittsburgh, PA, received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, his Master's degree from Frankfurt University, Frankfurt, Germany, and received his Ph.D. from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.
Douglass served as a Private First Class for several years in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Douglass was a storyteller and had many stories to share, mostly about his travels, which were extensive. He was affectionately known as "The Silver Surfer," "The Space Gho-o-ost," or as "Doc" to his neighbors and dear friends.
Douglass leaves behind two loving sisters and a multitude of nieces and nephews and dear friends in both Sandusky and in Pittsburgh. His life was full of life, vision, conviction, and joy!
Doc will be remembered for his acute awareness of other's feelings, and will be remembered for his fondness of all things "Charlie Brown," especially Snoopy.
Rest in Peace!
