Larry Bartow, 81, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 29, 2020 at The Meadows at Osborn Park following a brief illness.
Larry was born on April 10, 1939 in Zanesville, OH to the late Samuel Bartow and Marie (Walpool) Bartow-Hassinger.
Larry graduated from Zanesville High School in 1957 and received his Bachelor's in Psychology from Heidelberg University. He was a sergeant at the Sandusky Highway Patrol for 24 years and continued to work for New York Life Insurance Company for 24 years. Larry was a member and former Commodore (43rd) of the Sandusky Yacht Club, the Sandusky Elks Lodge #285, American Legion Post 83, Sandusky Exchange Club and AMVETS Post 17. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and especially enjoyed attending Indians games over the years as a season ticket holder. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, and spending time with his family and friends.
Larry is survived by his three children, L. Matthew (Andrea) Bartow of Bowling Green, Deidre (Michael) Naufel of Fremont and Bridget (Brad) Castle of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Naufel, Courtney (Shawn) Curtis, Emilie Bartow and Brayden Castle; three great-grandchildren, Brielle, Maisie and Olivia; fiancée, Nancy McKeen, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Judith (McGrath) Bartow in 2007.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 10:30 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Facebook Live will be available for viewing at 12:00 pm by visiting the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Facebook page. Chaplain Mel Sayler will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
