Douglas M. Risner

Douglas M. Risner, 66, residing in Milan, passed away early Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2021 at Promedica Toledo Hospital following a brief illness.

Douglas was born on July 31, 1954 in Bellevue, OH to Emmett "Earl" Risner and Donna (Dickman) Garwood.

Douglas graduated from the EHOVE Carpentry program in 1973. He retired from Teamsters after 30 years. Douglas was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 50 (EAA) and the Norwalk VFW. He was an avid golfer and Ohio State football fan. He loved spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Tracey (Wightman) Risner; mother, Donna Garwood; children, Daniel (Alicia) Risner of Huron, Steven (Kristin) Risner of Berlin Heights, Sara Risner of Los Angeles, CA, Gina Risner of Norwalk and Curtis (Ashley) Risner of Vermilion; grandchildren, Caiden, Alice, Jordan, Evelyn, Holland, Franklin, Layla, Jameson and Roman; sisters, Earlene (Guy) Frederick of Bellevue and Carol (Milton) Weyer of Norwalk; brother, Thomas Risner of TX; mother-in-law, Darlene Lowery of Berlin Heights; father-in-law, Robert (Linda) Wightman of Sandusky; best friend, Gary Shoop of Collins and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Douglas is preceded in death by his father, Earl in 1978; brother, Paul Risner in 2018; sister-in-law, Michelle Wightman and father-in-law, Frank Lowery.

Friends may call on Friday, January 8, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
