Barbara J. (Lay) Tajkowski, 74, residing in Norwalk, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 12, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Barbara was born on October 18, 1946 in Oak Ridge, TN to the late Lowell and Billie Sue (Jessee) Lay.
Barbara graduated from Sandusky High School and received her Associate's Degree from the University of Toledo. She retired from Providence Care Center as the Director of Medical Records, and had previously worked at Wagner Quarry. Barbara was an active member of The Chapel in Norwalk, where she helped with Bible study, was a table leader, and also worked at the Welcome Desk. In her spare time, she enjoyed cheering on her grandkids' sporting events, as well as the Cleveland Browns, watching Westerns, reading, dancing and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.
Barbara is survived by her significant other of 22 years, Al Coffey of Norwalk; her sons, Brian (Teresa) Brown of Huron, Mike (Tracy) Brown of Milan and Chris (Stacey) Brown of Norwalk; Al's children, Rachel (Paul) Ayala, Leah, Nathan and Daniel Coffey; grandchildren, James, Joey, JaLynn, Jessica, Julia, Brandon, Haley, Paige, Hannah, Caleb, Abigail, Olivia, Dani, Oscar, Hannah, Dominic and Abby; great-grandchildren, Aurora and Adrien; sisters, Peggy (Steve) Heidel of Florida and Mary Walton of Sandusky; special friend, Eileen Coffey and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her brother, Larry Lay.
Friends may call on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 5:00 pm until the time of funeral services at 7:00 pm at The Chapel in Norwalk, 156 S. Norwalk Rd. E., Norwalk. Pastors Todd Nielsen and Charles Conrad will co-officiate. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
