Ruth Helene (Duerschner) Dehnkamp, 89, Sandusky, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2012 in Stein Hospice Care Center after an illness.
Ruth was born on August 7, 1922 in Troy, NY, daughter of Adolph F. and Emma K. (Doering) Duerschner.
She was a 1940 graduate of Troy High School and attended Russell Sage College in Troy.
She was a retired school teacher having taught in school systems in New Orleans, Louisiana and Wellsburg, WV.
A lifelong Lutheran, Ruth was most recently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sandusky.
She enjoyed knitting and was a volunteer for HelpMates.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Gilbert C. Dehnkamp, whom she married on June 5, 1948; daughter, Lynn (Lance) Franke; son, Keith Dehnkamp; grandchildren, Carrie (Sean) Kiepert and Capt. Kevin (Belinda) Franke; and great-grandchildren, Catelyn, Nelson, Jacob, Audra, Calla, and Owen.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at 11 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills St., Sandusky, 44870. Rev. Gary Ulrich will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is assisting with arrangements.
