Rudolph V. "Doc" Baker, Sr., 82, Sandusky, died Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 8, 1938 in Springfield, KY, to the late John Edward and Mary Katherine (Brown) Baker.
Rudolph was employed by Vulcan Materials, Sears Roebuck and Co., and retired after 25 years from General Motors.
At an early age he was baptized at Johnson Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Springfield, KY, and after moving to Sandusky he united with Ebenezer Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Rudolph V. (Tabitha) Baker, Jr., Sandusky; daughters, Pamela R. Baker, Columbus, OH, and Diane M. Moulton, Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Nell Clark, Louisville, KY; brothers, Dillard B. Baker, Sr., Louisville, KY, Charles S. Baker, Sandusky, and Jack L. Baker, Toledo, OH; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends; and a special nephew and caregiver, Daryl E. Murphy I.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rooney L. Breland and Mae Antoinette Tonge; brothers, John E. Baker, Jr., Allen Baker, Robert B. Baker, and James "Fred" Baker.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Darrell Gant will officiate and Pastor Robert Bernard Baker will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
