Verda Lee Turner Jr. 60, Sandusky, departed this life on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on January 31, 1961 to the late Verda Lee Turner Sr. and Carrie (Taylor) Turner in Millry, AL.
He was a devoted employee of Barnes Nursery for over 20 years in Huron, OH.
At an early age he joined Zion Chapel A.M.E Church in Millry, AL and after moving to Sandusky he united with
Porter's Memorial CME Church.
He was a graduate of Southern Choctaw High School with the class of 1979 and was a star high school football player.
He loved life and always had a smile on his face. He was always ready to give a quick joke and a laugh. He had a passion for landscaping and his vision always came to light. Most importantly he loved his family and friends always there with his support. He will be dearly missed by all.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving sons, Alex Turner, Sandusky, Brent Bonner Millry, AL; daughters, Samantha Stevenson, Atlanta, GA and Shanika Ward. NY; loving granddaughters, Lala Allsop, and Stella Allsop both of Atlanta, GA; loving brothers, .D (Hattie) Turner, Millry, AL, Earvin (Yvonne) Turner Sr. Sandusky, Curtis (Tish) Turner, Bobby (Princess) Turner, and Terry Turner all of Columbus, OH; loving sisters, Virginia Taylor and Ethel McKeller both of Sandusky, Minnie (Ronnie) Donald and Carrie Frost both of Millry, AL and Stella (Willie) Sims, Toxey, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents; wife, Jodi Turner; brother, Ellis Turner; sister, Annie Turner, brother-in-law, David Taylor; grandparents, Elmore and Pearlie Turner, and Bill and Minnie Taylor.
Friends may call from 11 A.M. until 12 P.M. Noon Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Pastor C.J Johnson will officiate and deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
