Dean Charles Ditwiler Sr., 69, residing in Sandusky, passed away Friday afternoon, February 19, 2021 at Stein Hospice Care Center following a lengthy illness.
Dean was born on March 25, 1951 in Mansfield, OH to the late John and Margaret (Kochheiser) Ditwiler.
Dean graduated from Lucas High School in 1969. He was employed at Artino Ford as a mechanic, and then as a custodian at Sandusky City Schools retiring after many years of service. Dean was a member of the Sandusky Amvets Post 17, Orioles Club and the Sandusky Eagles #444. Dean loved camping at Clinton Lake, boating, fishing, and attending bowling league with his wife.
Dean is survived by his wife, Nancy (Fox) Ditwiler, whom he married on August 12, 1978. He is also survived by his daughter, Nicole Nixon of Sandusky; son, Dean Ditwiler Jr. of Sandusky; grandchild, Kiara; brother, Robert Richard (Sharon) Ditwiler of Treasure Island, FL; father and mother-in-law, Frank Jr. (Ruth) Fox and numerous other relatives.
Including his parents, Dean is preceded in death by his godson, Frank Fox IV.
Friends may call on Saturday February 27, 2021 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor Wally Gilbert will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron, OH.
