Charlene Marie (Smith) Shifflet, 86, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2021 at Providence Care Center.
Charlene was born on November 2, 1934 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Alfred and Mildred (Girand) Smith.
Charlene graduated from Withrow High School in 1952. She owned and operated Impala Restaurant and was a sales associate at JcPenney. Charlene was a member of The Chapel. She was also a former member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, IAB Club, Civic Woman's Club and Hospital Auxiliary. Charlene's greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Charlene is survived by her son, Nick (Karen) Shifflet; daughters, Rhonda Peters-Cunningham, Lori (Richard) Grutsch, Kathleen Hoffman and Krista (Steve) Cheek; grandchildren, Brian Shifflet, Jason Shifflet, Meagan (Chad) Markovich, Marissa (JP) Merk, Janae Cunningham, Briona (Ed) Wells, Markelle Grutsch, Chris Grutsch, Joshua Hoffman, Jordan Shifflet, Christopher Cheek, Matthew Cheek, Cassidy Cheek and Kylee Cheek; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Rutter and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Charlene is preceded in death by her husband, Neville "Nick" Shifflet in 1979 and sister, Phyllis McCarty.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be held in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
