Zere Pearl (Caudill) Salmons

Zere Pearl (Caudill) Salmons, 83, of Berlin Heights, OH passed away at her home March 8, 2021.

She was born September 1, 1937 in Scott County, VA and attended high school in Norton, VA.

She moved to the Berlin Heights area in 1958 and then married the love of her life, Dorsey Salmons in 1968. They raised six children and many grandchildren together, and she was a mother to many of their friends.

She loved to cook, and made the best biscuits and gravy in the world. She loved to crochet, read, and spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of Cleveland Sports, as well as watching her kids and grandkids play. She loved to take long walks with her family.

Her love of animals started when she was young and played in the hills of Hoot Owl Holler, Virginia, where she would talk to the animals and play with them. Her favorite pet was her Yorkie, Lily Isabelle Peanut Salmons.

Zere was a very kind soul with a lot of spirit. She showed her love by feeding anyone who was in her house, even if they weren't hungry.

Zere is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dorsey Salmons; children, Donnie (Joella) VanWinkle, Jackie (Lisa) VanWinkle, Denise Wedeman, Sonia (Roger) Dancy, Tami Ortman; grandchildren, Andrew VanWinkle, Jennifer VanWinkle, Jessica VanWinkle, Jordan (James) Attinger (VanWinkle), Stacey VanWinkle, Nikki VanWinkle, Justin VanWinkle, Mallori VanWinkle, Cody Wedeman, Kyley (Austin) Maschari (Wedeman), Shane Dancy, Hanna Dancy, Katie (Scott) Case (Ortman), Jake Ortman, and Lilah Ortman; eight great-grandchildren; her beloved dog, Lily Isabelle Peanut Salmons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Zere was preceded in death by her parents, Newton Caudill and Gladys (Woods) Mullins; daughter, Jodi Salmons; grandchild, Kari VanWinkle; and many brothers and sisters.
