Patricia Ann (Mesenburg) Killingsworth, age 85, of Castalia, went home Saturday night, April 3, 2021, with her children by her side.
She was born December 18, 1935, in Castalia, where she spent her entire life.
She graduated from Margaretta High School in 1953, and then continued her education at Providence School of Nursing, Bunte Institute of Cardiology, and EHOVE's EMT program. Patricia was a nurse for almost 60 years, working 28 years as a nurse in the D.B. Cuthbertson M.D. office practice, followed by working at Cedar Point, New Departure, and Delco Chassis as a staff nurse and EMT; she spent several years as a Field Representative for United Insurance Co. doing site reviews and credentialing of doctor offices, hospitals, and nursing homes; retiring in 2015. She was active as a volunteer with American Red Cross and Fitness Programs until 2017.
Patricia enjoyed keeping active, fit, and loved teaching her Castalia Fitness Class, "The Glistening Gals", and Firelands Fitness Programs for over 40 years. She worked for four years at the Common Pleas Court for Judge Ann Maschari as her executive assistant. She was also a Signature Judge for the Erie County Election Board for many years.
Patricia was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky, where she was a Parish nurse, Eucharistic Minister, and volunteer. She also was a member of the Providence Hospital Alumni, Cancer Services of Erie County; serving two years as President, Castalia Lions Auxillary; holding every office and serving as President for two years. Other memberships include: Women of Moose since 1980, Charter member of Castalia Rec, Exersafety, IDEA, past board member of Camp Fire. Patricia received the Women of Excellence Award in 1992, Top Nurse Award for Castalia in 2015 and 2017 from the International Nurses Assoc., and played in the women's golf league at Mills Creek.
In 2006, Patricia and her late husband Kenneth, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, and received Papal Blessing from the Holy Father, Pope Benedict, and blessings and recognition from Bishop Blair.
She especially enjoyed spending time with and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren's various activities.
She is survived by two son Kevin (Deborah) Killingsworth, and Kent (Theresa) Killingsworth; six grandchildren Kimberly Schaffer, Karen (Chris) Zwiesler, Ken (Carrie) Killingsworth, Keith (Stephanie) Killingsworth, Kyle Killingsworth, and Kristen (Eli) Cortes; 11 great grandchildren Timothy, Nick, Stephen, and Savannah Schaffer, John Zwiesler, Ian and Reghan Killingsworth, Emma and Drew Killingsworth, Diego Cortes and Gabriel Cortes May; two sisters Emilie Mesenburg, and Denise (Robert) Trimble; brother Lee (Charlotte) Mesenburg; sisters in-law Dolly Mathews and Jeanne Cummings; brother in law Richard Killingsworth; nephews Mark (Bel) Michel, Matt (Nicki) Michel, Todd Mesenburg, and Jeff (Rose) Killingsworth; niece Sherri (Greg) Marshall; and several great nieces and nephews; special friend Jackie Yost; and many more friends and family.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Killingsworth, on July 22, 2011; parents LeRoy and Helen (Scheck) Mesenburg; and sons in infancy.
At the request of the deceased, Patricia will be cremated and a memorial mass will be held at a later date. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
