Donald Leroy Yontz Sr.

Donald Leroy Yontz Sr., 79, Sandusky, passed away, Monday, April 12, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his beautiful wife and loving family. Being cared for by his special granddaughters, Jena, Autum, and Bryanna, and daughter, Pamela.

He was born in Sandusky on January 18, 1942 to the late Edward F. and Carrie B. (Haynes) Yontz.

Don started as a meat cutter for Wally's Foodtown in Sandusky when he was 16 years old and worked for Enderle's and Mutach's Market retiring after 60 years of service.

He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, fishing, was quite the handyman, helping other all the time, and loving and caring for his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice (Warren) Yontz; children, Larry Yontz, Laurie Yontz, Terri (Timothy Sr.) Alexander, Tammie (Christopher Bledsoe) Kurtz, and Pamela (Lonell Taylor) Yontz McDonald, all of Sandusky; fourteen grandchildren, with a special granddaughter, Jena, that he treated like a daughter; twenty great-grandchildren and two more on the way; sisters, Marcia A. (David) McCormick, Debra A. Yontz, Sandra M. Yontz, and Barbara L. Yontz all of Sandusky; brothers, Gary C. (Kathy) Yontz Sr., Daniel R. (Catherine) Yontz, Clarence R. (Verna) Yontz, all of Sandusky, and Dale A. (Karen) Yontz of Texas; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Leroy Yontz Jr.; and brothers, Ronald E. Yontz, Leon A. Yontz, Thomas E. Yontz, and Edward P. Yontz.

The family wants to give a special thank you to Firelands Dialysis and Stein Hospice for the special care and support.

A private graveside service will be held at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Rev. Harvey Studer will officiate.
