Thomas Frank Sowecke, 79, residing in Huron, beloved husband for 59 years to Patricia (Markin) and devoted father of three daughters; Cindy (Mark Barker), Sandy (Tony Legando), and Julie (Ian Ortega), passed away peacefully on July 9th at his home in Huron, Ohio surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was born to Frank and Jane (Moloney) Sowecke in Bucyrus, Ohio, and spent his childhood in Huron's Rye Beach neighborhood.
Tom always maintained a strong work ethic to provide for his family. Following graduation from Huron High School in 1960, Tom enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving as a radar operator for four years. Throughout his life Tom also worked at local Huron icons including Corky's Restaurant and the Piperette, as well as in leadership roles at Thermo Disk and Allied Signal. Tom later retired from Honeywell in Phoenix, Arizona. Tom and Patrica's final move in 2018 brought them back to Huron to be near their beloved family. Tom loved his family and friends and always filled life's moments with warmth and love.
In addition to his wife and children, Tom is survived by his brothers, Frank, Jr (Kathryn), Tim (Julie), and his sister Jane (David) Miller, and his sister-in-law JoAnne Markin. Tom is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Jeff Sowecke (Tobias Graebel), Joe Wright, Kyle, Joey (Taylor Slauterbeck) , and Tommy Bogden, Keegan and Morgan (Nick Mix) Bollenbacher, and Reghan Ortega, one great-grandchild Fionna Bogden, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bryan Sowecke.
A small ceremony will be held at Mesenburg's Hall in Huron, Ohio on July 16th, 2021. The family will receive guests from 5:00 - 5:30pm; followed by a brief ceremony; and then a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Tom's memory be made to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
