Sylvia E. (Slater) Wobser

Sylvia E. (Slater) Wobser, 93, residing in Sandusky, was ushered into the presence of her Lord and reunited with her husband, William on their 73rd anniversary, late Monday evening, July 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Sylvia was born on January 22, 1928 in Mariba, KY to the late Thomas and Myrtle (Brooks) Slater.

Over the years, Sylvia worked at various places. She began making rifle sights in Dayton, came to the Hotel Rieger in Sandusky, the Philco Company in Sandusky making radio parts, the Sands Diner and finally retiring from Cedar Point, where she made candles, baskets and brooms. Sylvia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a part of the quilter's group. She enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Center as a coordinator of the ceramics class. She enjoyed making baby cradles from basket materials, doing crafts, ceramics, family gatherings, dinner's and birthdays, watching her grandkids sporting events, but most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Deborah (David) Dahm, William (Lori) Wobser III and Gale (David) Ward; 15 grandchildren, Jenny, Tracy, Holly, Billy, Andrew, Josh, Morgan, John, Jason, Laurie, Christopher, Jacob, Matt, Andrea and Valerie; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Bessie Bowman of Wellington, KY and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, William Wobser Jr. in 2014; sisters, Lula Berry, Gertrude Simpson, Mabel Berry, Nancy Ruthsatz and Ona Oney and brothers, Johnny Slater at birth, Earl and Eugene Slater.

Friends may call on Friday, July 30, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon Carolyn Steinfeldt will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
