Doris Lee (Byrd) Hayes, 89, residing in Huron, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 3, 2021 at The Meadows at Osborn Park following a lengthy illness.
Doris was born on September 6, 1931 in Edmond, WV to the late Burl Edmin and Ruby May (Clendenin) Byrd.
Doris worked and retired from the Lutheran Memorial Home in Sandusky. She enjoyed reading and doing puzzles, embroidery, going on road trips and family vacations. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Kevin) Likes-Hayes of Bellevue, Sheala Davidson of Sandusky, Karen (Rob) Bruce of Amherst, Vickie Hayes of Oregon and Elane (Bill) Greene of Sandusky; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Eula Murray of Piketon, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Hershel A. Hayes in 1980; daughter, Renita Ruby (Hayes) Butler; son, Larry Keith Byrd and several siblings.
Friends may call on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Rd., Sandusky. Pastor Harvey Studer will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights.
