Joseph F. Mitchell Sr., 58, residing in Fremont, formerly of Sandusky, died Thursday, August 5, 2021, in Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green, OH, unexpectedly.
He was born in Sandusky on August 3, 1963, to the late Foster and Barbara (Melville) Mitchell. Joe was a 1981 graduate of Perkins High School.
He was employed at Whirlpool and GNC Foundry.
Joe loved to fish, sports, OSU, Indians, and Denver Broncos, cooking, Elvis, Christmas, lighthouses, and always loved a bargain. Spending time with his children, grandchildren, and family meant the most to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Matthew) Twiss, Fremont; son, Joseph (Ashley) Mitchell Jr., LaPorte, TX; grandchildren, Amberlin, William, Kirsten, Peyton, Wendell, Maverick and Madison; sisters, Debra (Gary) Joiner and Tina (Gary) Schemmer, both of Sandusky; brothers, Jeffrey Mitchell, Sandusky, and Edward Mitchell, Pasadena, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amanda Mitchell; and a grandson, Foster Twiss.
Friends may call on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 4-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 A.M. in The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd., Sandusky.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Joe's name to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105.
