Juanita (De Alejandro) Livengood

Juanita (De Alejandro) Livengood, 85, of Milan, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 14, 2021 at her residence.

Juanita was born on November 20, 1935 in Edinburg, TX to the late Juan and Angelita (Ocañas) De Alejandro.

Juanita was proud to be born in Texas but also embraced her Mexican heritage. While growing up, her family members were migrant workers, and she later gave back by working for the Migrant Clinic helping other migrant families in the area with translation and obtaining medical services. She graduated from Edinburg High School in 1956, and worked as a licensed cosmetologist for a number of years. Juanita owned and operated the Livengood Berry Patch with her husband, Larry, for over 50 years. She was lovingly known as the "Strawberry Lady" and dedicated her life to marketing their business and providing excellent customer service to her clients. Juanita was a member of Milan Presbyterian Church where she was an ordained Elder and a Deacon, a past president of the Women's Association, a past Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, a member of the Republican Women's Association, and a founding member of the Optimists Farm Bureau Council. In her spare time she enjoyed jazzercise, and most importantly was always a loving and supportive mother to her children.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Larry P. Livengood, whom she married on August 26th, 1961, almost 60 years ago; daughter, Lisa (Shawn) Runyon of Hilliard, OH; son, Todd (Cynthia) Livengood of Norwalk, OH; three grandchildren, Alexandra and Blaise Runyon and Ross Livengood; sisters-in-law, Betty De Alejandro, Alicia De Alejandro and Susan Essex; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Juanita is preceded in death by her brothers, Baldomero and Arnoldo De Alejandro; and her half siblings, Delfina, Lydia and Guadalupe.

Friends may call on Monday, August 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at the Milan Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Church St. Milan, OH 44846 with Pastor Don Loving presiding. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan, OH. The Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory in Milan is assisting the family with services.
