Alan Richard Young, 74, residing in Castalia, passed away late Thursday evening, August 19, 2021 at Firelands Regional Medical Center following his battle with COVID-19.
Alan was born on March 8, 1947 in Sandusky, OH to the late Ralph E. and Charlene (Rose) Young.
Alan graduated from Perkins High School in 1965. He was a Veteran of the Navy who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He started working in the Sandusky Sears store, before moving to corporate, where he would remodel and open new stores. He retired in 2013 after more than 40 years of service. Alan was a member of the American Legion Post 83. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan, and enjoyed boating, fishing, cooking and gardening.
Alan is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Monroe) Young, whom he married on December 15, 1990 in Bloomfield Hills, MI. He is also survived by his twin daughters, Brooke Young and Alyson (Damian) Myers both of Deshler, OH; beloved grandson, Devon; brother-in-law, Bill (Sue) Monroe of Midland, MI and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
