Mary Beth (Link) Samstag

Mary Beth (Link) Samstag, 70, residing in Sandusky passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Friday afternoon at Firelands Regional Medical Center.

Mary Beth was born July 30, 1951 in Sandusky to the late Francis D. and Mary Ellen (Roth) Link.

Mary Beth was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she had been a reader and Eucharistic minister. She was a 1969 graduate of St. Mary's High School. Over the years Mary Beth had been employed with the Sandusky City Schools, St. Mary's Central Catholic High School, Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, and finally retired from Firelands Surgery Center as a receptionist in 2020 after nearly 20 years of service.

Family was the most important thing to Mary Beth. She created unforgettable memories with her children and grandchildren, attending all school and sporting events for them as their biggest cheerleader. She enjoyed walks by the water with Mike, especially when it involved a beach, and especially in Florida. Campfires at Jason's house were always extra special, as were visits to the Sorrowful Mother's Shrine, shopping trips, Sister's Night Out, and family night's at the Cameo and Old Dutch. These were always' "Good Time's" for Mary Beth and the family and she always had a knack to make anything and everything fun for all involved. She was an avid Ohio State and Notre Dame Football fan. Mary Beth was a caring and loving person to everyone that knew her. Her wish is to be remembered as she was, full of light and love.

Mary Beth is survived by her High School sweet heart Mike, whom she married on July 14, 1972; her children, Sarah (Joel) Richwagen of Orlando, FL and Jason (Betsy) Samstag of Huron; four grandchildren, Everett, Alexa, Roxanne and Samantha; two sisters, Kathleen (Richard) Wollenberg, of Huron and Patricia (Mark) Conger of Sandusky; two brothers, Thomas (Gemma) Link and Denny (Connie) Link, both of Sandusky and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave. Sandusky. Father Joe Steinbauer will officiate with Deacon Jeff Claar giving the Homily. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow from 11:30 AM until 4 PM at the VFW Pavilion, 604 W. Perkins Ave., Sandusky; all are welcome to celebrate Mary Beth's wonderful life. A Private burial will be held at a later date and time. Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
