Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Weltlin) Ott, 91, residing in Sandusky, passed away late Monday evening, August 30, 2021 at Avon Hospital Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.
Betty was born on October 8, 1929 in Sandusky, OH to the late Charles and Barbara (Souter) Weltlin.
Betty graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1947 and went to work at the former APEX Company in Sandusky until she started her family. When Stein Hospice opened in 1981, Betty signed up to volunteer, and 4 years later, in 1985; she was hired as the executive secretary. She retired in February 2018 at the age of 88. Betty was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Betty loved her family and spending time with them, especially on their family vacations. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing pinochle with her card club ladies and doing puzzles.
Betty is survived by her children, Barbara Ott of Huron, Susan (Chuck) Riesterer of Sandusky, Linda (Steve) May of Huron, Bill Ott of Sandusky and Deb (Mike) Kessler of Sandusky; grandchildren, Ryan (Meghan) Riesterer, Beth (Ricky) Rodriguez, Sarah May, Matthew Kessler, Katie (Marco) Spadaro and Emily Kessler; great-grandchildren, Troy, Neala, Case, Tate, Gabby, Faith, Giuliana and Giorgio; niece, Julie Tout; nephews, Bill and Kevin Weltlin and numerous other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, William R. Ott in 1997; a child in infancy; brother, William (Rita) Weltlin and niece Dianne Gatta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
