Frederick "Rick" H. Lenke, III, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, January 31, 2012 in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky.
He was born on February 27, 1948 in Port Clinton, Ohio.
Rick graduated from Sandusky High School. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Erie County Conservation League, and the NRA. He loved to build model ships and spend time with his family, especially his great-grandson, Kaleb.
Rick is survived by his wife, Diane Lenke, whom he married on November 12, 1966; daughter Tina (Tom) Walton, of Sandusky; mother, Vernabelle Lenke; granddaughters, Unique ("Nikki") and Jessica; grandson, Jonathan; great-grandson, Kaleb; brothers, Tom, of Virginia, Steve, of West Virginia, and John, of Grand Rapids, Ohio; best friend, Tim Freyberg, of New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick H. Lenke, Jr.; a daughter, SueAnn; and a great-grandson, Gavin.
Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Friday, February 3, 2012 in Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Honoring Rick's wishes, cremation will take place. Private graveside services will be held in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the Firelands Dialysis Center, 904 Pierce St., Sandusky, OH 44870 or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
