James C. "J.C." (Bob) Hamm, 77, of Sandusky passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning, September 24, 2021, at his residence.
He was born November 11, 1943, in Coeburn, Virginia.
After serving in the U.S. Army, J.C. had worked in Romulus, Michigan for a short time, moving to Sandusky in 1965. He was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad for thirty years prior to retirement.
He was a member of the Sandusky Eagles, AMVET Post 17, American Legion Post 83, and NARVRE Unit 147. His grandson's Travis and Bub were his pride and joy. His hobbies included gardening and fishing. He was a true sportsman and loved Ohio State football and the Cleveland Cavaliers. J.C. played in the Erie County Dartball League for M&M Tavern and then Third Base for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol A. (Lippert) Hamm; one son, Brian (Linda) Hamm of Sandusky; two grandsons, Travis Hamm of Sandusky, and Trevor (Rachel Kashian) Hamm of Norwalk; one brother and his wife, Donald "Ray" and Patricia Hamm of Hockingport, Ohio; one sister, Peggy Carico of Clintwood, Virginia; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Della Mae (Lawson) Hamm.
Friends may call from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday, September 28, 2021, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the funeral home. Rev. Dr. Eric Bodenstab will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
