Betty Jane Burke, 96, of Sandusky and formerly of Norwalk passed away early Wednesday morning, September 29, 2021, in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born January 25, 1925, in Norwalk and was a 1943 graduate of Norwalk High School.
Betty Jane and her husband, Thomas Martin Burke, formerly owned and operated the Olena Grocery Store many years ago. She was a former member of the Norwalk VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Olena Farm Women's Club. Her hobbies included playing cards, especially pinochle, BINGO, traveling, and spending time with her family. Betty Jane and her husband spent many winters in Florida.
She is survived by one daughter, Lana (Dale) Schnittker; three grandchildren, Nick (Lindsay) Schnittker of Norwalk, Tara (Derek) Tieche of Milan, and Tracy (Seth) Link of Sandusky; nine great grandchildren, Evan, Grant, Scarlett, Lucas, Jacob, Presley, Perry, Chloe, and Mya; one sister-in-law, Irene Bohland of Sandusky; one niece and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Martin Burke in 2005 and her parents, Carl and Levenna (Knight) Palmer.
Services for the family will be held with Chaplain David Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Olena Cemetery, Olena, Ohio.
