Richard "Ric" Lynn Babcock, 73, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday afternoon, October 12, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness.
Ric was born on March 13, 1948 in Sandusky, OH to the late Robert G. Sr. and Dorothy M. (Ihrig) Babcock.
Ric spent much of his childhood in Orlando, FL before returning to Ohio. He valued friendship and his pride and joy was the life he built with his wife, children, and grandchildren. An inventor and entrepreneur, Ric patented and published a series of interactive children's books and built the business Amish Trails with his wife. His career also included 23 years at G & C Foundry, retiring as CFO and VP of Finance, and in lending with Fifth Third Bank. With a quick wit and sense of humor he enjoyed being around people. Among his other accomplishments, he was a Veteran of the US Coast Guard and an ordained Deacon in the Anglican Church. He was a member of the AMVETS Post #17 and past president of the Sandusky Jaycee's.
Ric is survived by his wife, Patricia (Manlet) Babcock, whom he married on July 6, 1973. He is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Jason) DeGraff of Independence, OH; son, Brian Babcock of Toledo, OH; grandsons, Carter and Mack DeGraff and niece, Brooke Ellen Park of FL.
In addition to his parents, Ric is preceded in death by his brother, Robert G. Babcock Jr. and nephew, Robert G. Babcock III.
Friends may call on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at 11:00 am until the time of memorial services at 1:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor James Hodsden will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
