Valarie L. Markley, age 60, of Castalia, passed away Friday night, February 3, 2012, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, courageously battling a lengthy illness.
She was born February 9, 1951, in Bedford, IN, and attended Margaretta High School and became an LPN from Sandusky School of Practical Nursing. She worked at Sandusky Memorial Hospital and Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. Valarie attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky, and was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed dealing with antiques and fine collectables and vacationing with her family and friends in Las Vegas and Florida.
She is survived by her husband Timothy Markley; son Daniel Markley, Toledo; three sisters Donita (John) Lawhorn, Sinking Springs, Arlene "Sue" Herholtz, Sinking Springs, and Brenda (Tony) Zahel, Sandusky; brother Cecil (Myrtle) Parker Jr., Medina; two brothers in-law Mike (Maree) Markley, Castalia and Mark (Elizabeth) Markley, Huron; seven nieces; seven nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Valarie was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Hattie (Casada) Parker Sr.; in laws Ruby and Roger Markley; and one niece.
Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday, February 6, 2012, at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and Tuesday from 12:00 noon until time of services at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
