Mary "Grandma Tabby" Alice (Brown) Bonds

Mary "Grandma Tabby" Alice (Brown) Bonds, 89, residing in Sandusky, peacefully passed away Saturday afternoon, October 23, 2021 at The Meadows at Osborn Park surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on August 7, 1932 in Mabscott, WV to the late Sam Gilmore and Ruby (Smith) Brown.

Mary loved working in sales, and previously had worked at the former Grant Company, and Murphy's Department Store before retiring in 1990 from Sears. She was dedicated reader of the Bible and participated in many Bible studies. During her retirement, she enjoyed visiting flea markets and selling her finds for a profit. She also enjoyed going out to eat and loved her friends and fellowship.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Diane (Ricky) Walker of Orlando, FL and Debbie (Gary) Rohde of Sandusky; son, David (Sally) Bonds of Lodi, OH; 6 grandchildren, Christina Walker, Andrew (Meghan) Rohde, Michael (Megan) Rohde, Marcus (Abby) Rohde, Daniel (Jen) Bonds and Sarah (Steve) Mueller; 11 great-grandchildren, Madeline, Elliott, Jameson, Jonas, Jude, Elena, Alex, Dexter, Ben, J.D. and Charlie; sisters, Mary Zimmerman of Richmond, VA, Charlotte Poole of Beckley, WV and sister, Vivian Rubin of Corpus Christie, TX; brothers, William Brown Beckley of WV and James Brown of Little Rock, AR and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bonds in August 2003; sisters, Anna Lee Bailey, Ruth Bryant and Wanda "Gay" Lively and brothers, Lawrence, Gilmore "Bobo" and Jack Brown.

A private family memorial service will be held. Burial will be held in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
