James (Jim) Huth

James (Jim) Huth, 90, of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away after a brief illness on November 16, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born to parents William and Loretto (Theibert) Huth, on September 1, 1931, in Sandusky.

Jim graduated from Sandusky High School in 1949 and attended Bowling Green State University. Shortly after High School he was drafted and served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 stationed in Berlin, Germany.

From the time Jim was in grade school, he helped work at his family's Grocery Store - Huth Grocery - serving much of the community. Jim spent most of his working career as an Insurance Agent first as a partner of the Daniel and Huth Insurance Agency and then at Firelands Insurance Agency. At an age when most people would have retired, Jim continued to work until the age of 88!

He married Mary Klinke, the love of his life, on August 2, 1969. They were true soulmates, rarely apart from each other. They recently celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary and shared a love of adventure including traveling nearly all of the United States, many European countries, and trips to the Caribbean to name a few. Jim and Mary were both in their 70s and 80s when they rode mountain bikes down Pikes Peak in Colorado, Zip lined in Hocking Hills, and went Parasailing in Mexico. Jim also had so much love for his children and grandchildren and was so proud of each of them.

Jim was extremely active in community service. He was an active 50-year Lions Club member, a 50+ year member of the Knights of Columbus even serving as Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree, member of the Sandusky Yacht Club, former member of the Sandusky Jaycees, member of the Sandusky Maritime Museum, member of the VFW, American Legion and Amvets organizations and very active member of the Sandusky High Class of 1949. Jim was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church.

Jim is survived by his wife Mary, son James and daughters Laurie, Kathleen (Scott) Zielinski, and Molly (Matthew Andryscik), as well as grandson Kelan and granddaughters Hazel and Josie Zielinski.

Jim was preceded in death by parents and brothers, William (Ann) Huth and Robert Huth.
J
im's family (and I'm sure his friends, too) thought he was the kindest and most caring person they will ever know. He never had anything bad to say about anyone, never complained, and was always quick to forgive. Jim was the absolute best Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend and leaves an immeasurable loss on all who knew him.

Friends may call from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, November 19, 2021, in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The Sandusky Lions Club will hold a memorial service at 4:45 pm prior to the visitation on Friday. The Sandusky Knights of Columbus, Council #546 will recite the rosary at the conclusion of the visitation at 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 20, 2021, in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Fr. Zach Brown will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's honor be made to the Victory Kitchen, P.O. Box 2593, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or to the Humane Society of Erie County, 1911 Superior Street, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
