Joanne (Kirk) Hosey

Joanne (Kirk) Hosey, 91, of Sandusky, went to her heavenly home on November 21, 2021 with her daughter, Brenda, by her side at Providence Care Center after many months of declining health.

She was born July 8, 1930 in Radnor, Ohio to John E. and Mayme (Kirby) Kirk.

After graduating valedictorian from Prospect High School in 1948, she worked in the Clerk of Courts office in Marion, Ohio. It was there that she met the love of her life, Clyde "Bud" Hosey, whom she married September 2, 1950. She worked in the Secretary of State's office in Columbus, Ohio while supporting her husband in his academic efforts in both Dentistry and Orthodontics at The Ohio State University. She lived in Fostoria, Ohio and helped her husband in his dental practice there. In March 1965, she moved to Sandusky, Ohio and helped her husband in his Orthodontic practice until welcoming her only child, daughter, Brenda. After the birth of her daughter, she devoted the rest of her life to the health and happiness of both her husband and daughter. She was the most loving, loyal, and devoted wife and mother anyone could have ever asked for. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her family as well as her many friends and extended family.

Joanne was a devoted Christian, attending Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky all of her life in Sandusky. She was also a member of the Agape Bible Study at Zion and served as a greeter/refreshment helper as well as on the hospitality/kitchen committee. She was a member of the Sandusky Civic Club, Firelands Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxuliary Post 83. Joanne was a lifelong OSU Buckeyes fan, attending many football games with Bud as season ticket holders. She also loved the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. Joanne enjoyed playing bridge, having played in both couples and singles groups. She also enjoyed bird watching, going to lunch with friends, volunteering, and supporting her friends, extended family, and ultimately her grandchildren. She was truly a beautiful and loyal friend to all who knew her.

Her happiest moments in life were the birth of her grandson, Jacob, and then granddaughter, Erica. She absolutely adored them both and supported each to the highest extent possible, spending as much time as she could with them, creating lifelong memories for them both. Joanne was the biggest cheerleader for Jacob and Erica, supporting both of them in any endeavors they undertook, whether it be spending many hours at Special Olympic games and activities for Jacob or many hours at football games and swim/dive meets for Erica. She couldn't have been more proud and ecstatic with all their accomplishments. They truly were the apple of her eye!

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Brenda Kay (Marc) Henrichsen; grandson, Jacob Eric Henrichsen, all of Sandusky; granddaughter, Erica Kay Henrichsen, of Garfield Heights; along with many nieces, nephews, and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her parents, John and Mayme; her infant brother, Donal; and her sisters, and brothers-in-law, Marthabelle and Earnest Stiffler, Anna Mary and Wayne Rawlins, and Marjorie and Charles Lauer.

Family and friends may call Monday, November 29 from 11:30 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A funeral service will begin at 1 P.M. with entombment following at Oakland Cemetery.
