Carl J. "Slim" Krawetzki, age 78, of Castalia, passed away Sunday evening, November 28, 2021, at Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
He was born January 22, 1943, in Sandusky, and graduated from Margaretta High School in 1961. He was the owner and operator of Bar 101, Castalia, for almost 60 years, after he took it over from his parents in 1964. Captain Slim chartered the Cast-n-Catch charter boat for 35 years and was a member and past president of the Sandusky Charter Boat Association; and also was on the Margaretta Township Fire Dept for 25 years. He was a member of the Castalia Lions Club for over 50 years, and won the Melvin Jones Award and was a past president. Slim played in the Vacationland Pool League for 30 years and the Erie County Dartball League for 40 years, and was past president for both; he was also a member of the Castalia Parks Board for 10 years
He is survived by his wife Diana (Rohrbacher) Krawetzki, daughter Lori (Kevin) Chamberlain, son David (Jennifer) Krawetzki; step daughter Emily Alley; grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, Merennah, Ben, Malaya, and Jordan; brother Charles (Debbie) Krawetzki; sister in-law Jo-Anne Krawetzki; brother in-law Barry Brunner; 1st wife Muriel Krawetzki; and several nieces and nephews.
Slim was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Kathleen (Hime) Krawetzki; 2nd mother Mary (Gieger) Krawetzki; sisters Missi Castleberry and Sherri Brunner; nephew Ben Brunner; and special cousin Beverly Mischer.
Friends may call from 2-8 PM Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, followed by the Castalia Lions Club Memorial Service starting at 8 pm. A memorial service will be held on December 16, 2021, at 11 AM in Grace Lutheran Church 203 S. Washington St., Castalia. Pastor Kathleen Suggitt will officiate.
