Daniel B. Harvey

Daniel B. Harvey, 74, of Shelby, went to rest eternally in his Heavenly home on December 22, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, after a brief illness.

He was born on March 6, 1947 in Coeburn, VA to the late Emmitt Pridemore and Vesta Mae (Musick) Harvey.

Danny attended Coeburn High School, moving to Ohio in 1965. He was retired from Uniroyal Products in Port Clinton. Danny was known for his love of music and family. He took pride in playing a "Martin" guitar, making it ring. He was raised as a pastor's kid, had a love for woodworking, and enjoyed birds and nature. You could always hear him telling stories of his Appalachian and Cherokee roots.

He attended many churches locally and within the state, playing and singing with his family Gospel group The Harvey's, for many years. He was of the Pentecostal Faith. He toted his guitar with him everywhere and played songs of Faith and Praise any chance he could get. Whether at church, a picnic or a family gathering, you could be sure Danny would be leading the chorus.

He is survived by his final love and wife of 13 years, Annie Marie, of Shelby; seven daughters, Suella (Robert P.) Davis, of Sandusky, Estil Canterbury, of St. Louis, MO, Debbie Kolokoski, of Michigan, Teresa Cortwright, of California Tina Huntington, of Shelby, Sonia (Rob) Emigh, of Columbus, and Yasmin Hiley, of Cleveland; son, Shannon (Terry) Harvey, of Norwalk; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brother, John "Thomas" Harvey, of Castalia; four sisters, Retha Younce, of Sandusky, and Anna Lou Smith, Dora Mae Brummit, and Lilly Jacobs, all of Coeburn.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Mae (Younce) Harvey; his second wife, Maybelle (Gowdy) Harvey; three sons, Martin Dwayne Harvey, Joe Canterbury, and Gary Canterbury; grandson, David Neoce; five brothers, William "Bill" Harvey, Orbin Harvey, Leon Harvey, Roy Harvey, and Curtis Harvey; three sisters, Elsie Cook, Lucille Beavers, and Mally Harvey; twin siblings in infancy; and his parents.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, December 29 from 4-7 P.M at Toft Funeral HOme & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky.
