Cleona J. Gundlach, age 76, of Castalia, passed away Saturday night, December 25, 2021, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, following a lengthy illness.
She was born January 12, 1945, Garden City, KS, to Vergil and Jeanne (Armstrong) Southern.
Cleona met her husband of 60 years, Lynn, in Anchorage, AK, while he was in the Army; they wed on October 30, 1961, in Sandusky. She was a devoted wife and mother of four children, who loved spending time with them and all her grandchildren. Cleona was a former member of Freewill Baptist Church, and currently attended Second Chance Chapel, Sandusky. She loved going to Amish County and crocheting; and she was a volunteer at Firelands Hospital, Sandusky.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah (Paul) Fannin, and Jennifer Downing; sons Terry (Diane) Gundlach, and Francis Gundlach; seven grandchildren Jeremy Fannin, Heather (Nick) Moses, Brandon Downing, Matthew (Hannah) Gundlach, Tyler (Kylie) Gundlach, Rachel Gundlach, and Ashley Gundlach; eight great grandchildren Addisyn, Jack, Lincoln, Greyson, Braxton, Auybrn, Zack, and Autumn; three sisters June Fouse, Jo (Duane) Nickolas, and Jay Stovall; brother Virgil (Gudrun) Southern; and several nieces and nephews.
Cleona was preceded in death by her husband Lynn Gundlach, in 2008; parents; and brother Terry Southern.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Ransom Funeral & Cremation Service, Castalia, is in charge of the arrangements.
