Allan G. Mueller, 70, Sandusky, died on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, surrounded by his family as he entered into eternal life with Jesus.
He was born to Ervin Mueller and Margaret Elizabeth Merrick Mueller, on December 1, 1951 in Anchorage, AK.
Al graduated from St. Mary's and "probably served more early morning masses as altar boy when others didn't show up as I lived across the street from the church. " As an adult, he continued his education, studying computer operated design (CAD) at Terra Tech College and welding programs at EHOVE. He worked in manufacturing, in supervision, as a quality inspector, and when just in time delivery services were initiated. As part of the Armstrong Air Conditioning Safety Committee, he developed a mesh glove that reduced accidents and injuries with hundreds of accident free days. When the company decided to close the Bellevue plant, he focused on the employees' future needs and encouraged them to continue working hard, to exceed production standards, in order to put them in a better situation to meet their families' needs once the lines closed.
As a quiet spoken man, he taught others, by example, care and consideration of their goals. He coached his sons' Little League and Atom League baseball teams while realizing that when they were older "They needed to learn from other coaches as I have taught them all I can." He was pack leader for scouting groups. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was known as a story teller and would tell stories a million times, so that others might get the message or punch line. It was said of Allen that "you are more than family, you are a great friend."
He is survived by his wife, Kathie, sons, Rob (Cali) Griggs and Jared K. (Melissa) Mueller; granddaughter, Sasha Haas and grandson, Zachary Haas; sister, Sharon (Dennis) Park; brothers, William Mueller, Francis Treacy (Deborah) Mueller, Sean (Mandy) Mueller, and Keith (Patricia.) Mueller; mother-in- law, Pauline Giles; sister-in-law, Carol Hay, and brothers-in-law, Allen Giles, Tim (Lisa) Giles and Rodney Giles. He had a many nieces and nephews who have shared funny stories they remember when being with Uncle Al. Friend Sherry Garner and primary caregiver Debbie Pollard brought joy and strength to his life. His newest joys were his puppy Molly Grace and grand puppy Dottie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; special Aunts, Mary Jane Merrick and Ann Butler; sister, Kathleen B. Mueller; nephew, Bruce Allan Mueller, and on November 10, 2020 his father-in-law, Everett R. Giles, whose family grieves that recent loss.
Friends may call on Saturday January 8, 2022, from 12:30 P.M. until time of memorial services at 1 P.M. in The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd., Sandusky. Pastor Todd Nielsen will officiate.
Due to Allan's chronic medical conditions of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia, Al was enrolled in the Erie County Lions Club Project Lifesaver, PO Box 613, Sandusky OH 44871. This project gives "peace of mind for a nickel and a dime" for children and adults who are prone to wander, allowing them to be located in a short time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Project Lifesaver program.
The family expresses an appreciation to Stein Hospice both in home and the inpatient unit.
Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky is handling the arrangements.
