Betty J. Trammell, 86, of Sandusky, went home to be with her Lord, family members, and friends on January 3, 2022.
Betty was born to Mary Alice (Caincross) and Thomas Branard on February 7, 1935, in Charleston, WV.
She is the beloved sister to Thomas (Micky) of Radcliff KY, and deceased siblings Ray, Darlis, Sherlene, and Gladys Annalee.
After moving to Ohio, she married Harold Haslage in 1953. Together they had four children, Shirlean (Mike) Smith of Milan, Marvin (Phyllis) Haslage of Norwalk, Bill (deceased), and Brenda (deceased).
After her divorce to Harold, Betty later met the man who became the love of her life, James (Woody) Thornton. Previously married himself, Woody had four children of his own as well, Kathryn of Willard, and those who have since passed, David (April) Thornton, Mary (Mike) Reynolds, and Donna Thornton. Together, they added four more children to their already blended family. Along came James (deceased), Tracey (Angie) Thornton of Monroeville, Linda (Tom) Moore of Norwalk, and Barbara Thornton of Florida. They were married until Woody's untimely passing in 1998.
In 2002, Betty married Perry Trammell. She became very close to Perry's daughter, Rose Saunders, and considered her one of her own. Perry later passed in 2010.
In addition to those family members mentioned above, she was blessed with innumerable grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much.
Betty served Erie County for many years working in home health as an STNA until her retirement. She enjoyed serving at the Senior Center, cooking, reading, playing cards, watching old sitcoms, anything that had to do with Elvis, storytelling, and spending time with family. She especially enjoyed going on adventures with her granddaughter, Sara Haslage, the one with whom she shared the same birthday.
We invite friends and family to come celebrate her life on Monday, January 10, 2022 from 9:30 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Chaplain Mel Sayler will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
Those wishing to contribute to Betty's memory may do so to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
