Helen M. Orshoski

Helen M. Orshoski, residing in Sandusky, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the age of 102 at Stein Hospice Care Center with her loving daughter Judy, and her daughter-in-law, Fay, by her side.

Helen was born on September 29, 1919 in Budapest, Hungary. She was employed at New Departure for 30 years, and after retiring in 1984 she continued in various other positions with a focus on volunteer work. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Local Auto Workers 913.

Helen never met a stranger and was always there to brighten the lives of others. She touched many lives with her kindness, sweet smile, compassion and her big heart. Helen was committed to her family. Helen's passion and joy was cooking and baking for her family and friends. Her recipes are a treasure. She was adored and loved by all, and those who knew her often referred to her as "Momma." She was a person of strong faith and lived her life serving others.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Judy Burkey of Sandusky; four grandchildren, Mark Orshoski, Susan (Danny) Schilder, Rob (Janette) Burkey and Jay Burkey; eight great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jodi, Ashley, Jessica, Cameron, Jacob, Joshua and Connor; two great-great-grandchildren, Gage and Peyton; and daughter-in-law, Fay Orshoski of Las Vegas, NV.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Orshoski; son, Bob Orshoski; granddaughter, Julie Keena; mother, Julia; son-in-law, Bob Burkey; and two sisters, Irene Trumblak and Stella Morton.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 9:30 am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave. Sandusky, OH with Fr. Monte Hoyles presiding. Entombment will take place at a later time at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
