Ronald Gene Krebs, 81, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 11, 2022 surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 2, 1940 in Toledo to Julius "Ike" and Alice (Clark) Krebs, and graduated from Western Reserve High School in 1959. He enlisted in the United State Air Force on July 2, 1959. He was honorably discharged via the personal hardship process following the untimely death of his brother, Clifford, on June 1, 1960, when he then returned home to run the family farm with his father.
Ron was employed by Johnson Furnace, Bellevue, Chapin & Chapin, Norwalk, was an owner-operator of D&R Excavating, and ultimately retired as an over-the-road truck driver for DRW Trucking, Oneida, TN.
He enjoyed antique tractors, farming, fishing at Piedmont Lake, going to the race track, and spending time with family.
Ron is survived by his brother, Glenn (Rita), of Vickery; three children, Denise (Mike) Reilly, of Norwalk, David (Kim), of Curtice, and Cale (Gigi), of Sandusky; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 P.M. on Friday, January 14 until funeral services begin at 5 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Deacon John Bialorucki will officiate. Burial will be in Wakeman Cemetery with military honors.
The family would like to extend a special thank to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Firelands Hospital and ParkVue Nursing Home for their compassionate and wonderful care during his final days.
