Mildred Christine Washington

Mildred Christine Washington, 68, Sandusky departed this life on Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

She was born October 3, 1953, in Wilcox County, Alabama to the late Hattie Washington and Cesar Smith Jr.

She graduated from Snow Hill Institute, Snow Hill Alabama, and attended Job Corps in Pennsylvania, where she received her certification.

Mildred moved to Ohio in 1974. She united with Second Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Ministries, kitchen committee, vacation bible school, and Sunday school until her health prevented her from participating. She was employed with Goodwill Industries until retirement.

She was the family babysitter, caregiver, faithful travel companion, and cook. She loved her
family, friends. She also enjoyed her favorite TV westerns.

She leaves to cherish her memories, David L. Washington, her only son whom she loved dearly; four brothers, Andrew (Lillian) Washington, Selma, Alabama, Dr. Emanuel (Thelma) Washington, Toledo, OH, Christopher (Inga) Smith, Orlando, FL, and Luther (Evonne) Smith, Pensacola, FL; seven sisters, Rozelia (Franklin) Churchwell, and Viola Washington, both of Sandusky, Debra Marshall, Montgomery, AL, Elvira Matthews, Woodstock, GA, Veronica (Willie) Jones, Columbus, GA, Phacilla (David Knight), and Lavonya (Anthony) Johnson, both of Pensacola, FL. two aunts, Henrietta Burton, GA; Sarah Washington, Akron, OH, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Simuel Washington, niece, Kovedia Washington and a nephew in infancy.

Family and friends may call on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky.

Pastor Reginald J. Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
