In the early morning hours of Monday, January 31, 2022, after celebrating her ninety-sixth birthday, Addie Aleen Carden, passed peacefully after a prolonged bout with dementia whole being cared for at Admiral's Pointe Nursing Facility in Huron, OH.
Born January 30, 1926 in Coeburn, VA, Aleen was the first of eight children born to the union of Mr. C Auburn and Augusta Naomi (Franks) Rose.
Aleen married her husband, Jesse Harmon Carden on February 15, 1947 and they moved to Ohio in 1952 where she began her career at Ohio Bell Telephone Company. She subsequently worked at JCPenney in the catalog department and finally retired from GTE in Norwalk as an operator.
Aleen's natural keyboard ability allowed her family to celebrate holidays and reunions with singing and impromptu dancing, usually ending with her ever popular "Boogie Woogie" renditions and carefully doled out portions of her iconic fudge.
From early spring to the last vestiges of autumn, Aleen tended her yard and garden with the utmost care, taking particular pride in her roses.
Aleen became a Christian early in life and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and then later The People's Church.
Aleen is survived by her daughter, Myra Carden of IN; son, Charles Carden of IN; sister, Lavett Whitston of Sandusky; nieces, Denise Shartzer of Sandusky, Melissa (Ric) Lewellen of WV, Carla Carden Ungerech of OH, Karen Rose Perkins of Bellevue, Angelo Rose Atkinson of TN, Jamie Robbins (Robbie) Comer of TN, Michelle Rose (Todd) Miller of OH, Patty Kay Culbertson VA, Sherry Vanover of VA; nephews, Dale (Roslyn) Carden of AR, Dennis Carden of VA, Matthew (Laura) Rose of TN; Auburn (Carrie) Rose of TX, Dallas (Chasity) Rose of TX, and Del (Tina) Rose of England; former son-in-law, David Blay; grandchildren, Sean Blay of IN, Dawn Blay of MI, Dustin (Valerie) Blay of IL, Jennifer Carden-Bibler of Sandusky, and Courtney Carden of TN; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives.
