Lamar DeLawrence Cole, Sr. Fremont, OH was called home to be with his heavenly father early in the afternoon of Sunday, January 30, 2022.
He was born on January 28, 1970 to Georgia Ella (Cole) McGee in Sandusky, OH.
Lamar transitioned from this life to eternal rest after a long battle with cancer, at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 52 years old.
Lamar was born and raised in Sandusky, Ohio, attended Sandusky City Schools for his entire K-12 education, then joined the United States Navy immediately after graduation. After leaving the military, his career pursuits included security services, law enforcement and then ultimately ended in manufacturing at Whirlpool in Clyde, OH.
In his youth, Lamar was an active member of Second Baptist Church in Sandusky and was currently a member of New Life Community Church in Fremont, OH. Lamar's drum skills started early as he played in the Sandusky Drum and Bugle Corps, the Sandusky High School marching band, the drumline for his Navy boot camp graduation and continued where he played drums for New Life Community Church.
Lamar was a loving husband, son, brother, and papa (grandfather). Lamar was a great dancer, avid Sci-Fi reader, liked to sing and write songs, loved to bowl, enjoyed playing darts and had a passion for playing golf. He loved to spend time with family and friends talking, joking and telling stories. Lamar had a beautiful smile that could light up a room.
Lamar was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Juliet Cole and Hazel Lemons; grandfather, George Lemons, Sr.; uncles, Richard Cole and Gregory (Peck) Thomas; and aunt Hattie Lemons.
Lamar is survived by his wife, Michelle Jean Cole; his mother, Georgia (Luther) McGee of Sandusky, OH, father, Melvin Thomas of Columbus, OH; his children, Tyler Stanley of Sandusky, OH; Lamar Cole, Jr. of Apollo Beach, FL, Teyon Cole or Fremont, OH, and Jaidyn Cole of Tampa, FL; stepchildren, Rochelle Ortega, Manuel Ortega III, Izahas Ortega, all of Fremont, OH; siblings Angela Carnes of Columbus, OH and Marsha & Shannon Taylor of Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren, a longtime best friend/brother, Joey Hamm, and a host of nieces and nephews that will greatly miss him.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the memorial services which will begin at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at New Hope Vineyard Church, 2507 Hayes Avenue, Fremont, Ohio 43420. He will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memory Gardens.immediately after the services.
