Wilson "Ted" H. Kastor, 90, residing in Sandusky, passed peacefully Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Providence Care Center, where he resided the last nine years.
Ted was born on January 25, 1932 in Sandusky, OH to the late Howard and Blanche (Niece) Kastor.
Following graduation from Sandusky High School, Ted went to work at Philco in Sandusky. Lionel "Butch" Searle was the Plant Manager at Philco. Ted was Butch's personal golf caddy growing up at Plum Brook Country Club and Butch delivered on his promise of employment after high school. At Philco, he met the love of his life and future wife, Martha "Marti" Kidwell from Huron. Ted moved on after Philco closed to Vulcan Materials, and then Homberger Trucking until his retirement in 1994.
He excelled in sports, lettering in football, basketball and golf at Sandusky High School. Ted played on the Blue Streak golf team that advanced to the state tournament, held at the famed OSU Scarlet Course. As an adult, he played in many area golf leagues and the city volleyball league. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and rooting for the Cavs, Indians, Browns and Buckeyes. Ted was a former member of the Elks Lodge #285, Knights of Columbus and the Teamsters Union Local 20. He also served on the Oakland Cemetery Board and the Sts. Peter & Paul Parish Council.
Ted was truly a "gentle giant" at 6'6, tall with a mild demeanor. He was also a devoted husband, father, and community member and he served as an excellent role model to his sons that loved him dearly.
He is survived by his three sons, Theodore "Ted" (Denise) Kastor, David (Linda) Kastor both of Sandusky and Daniel (Michelle) Kastor of Annapolis, MD; grandchildren, Alison (Kastor) Buirley, Troy Kastor, Britton Kastor, Courtney (Kastor) Keimer and Andrew Kastor; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Brynlee and Nash Buirley and Beckham, Holter, Calla, Gray and Avion.
In addition to his parents, Ted is preceded in death by his wife, Martha in 2009 and his sister, Ruth Jean (Kastor) Henry in 2021.
Private family services will be held at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory followed by burial in Oakland Cemetery, where he will reside eternally next to his beloved, "Marti." Deacon Bill Burch will officiate.
