Cozetta DaNeen "Cozzie" North, 57, Sandusky, departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 09, 2022, at Firelands Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family, after a lengthy fight with Sarcoidosis.
She was born on March 13, 1964 in Sandusky to the late Helen Rose North and Charles Orange North.
She graduated from Sandusky High School in 1982 and attended Bowling Green State University, where she received her certifications in the medical field.
Cozzie accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age at the Assembly of Jesus Christ, and later joined Providence Missionary Baptist Church.
Cozzie started her work career at Wendy's, where she became the GM for Wendy's restaurants. Cozzie worked there until she made a career change to the medical field, working at Ohio Veterans Home, Erie County Care Facility, Providence Community Hospital, and finally retiring from Firelands Regional Medical Center in 2018. Cozzie was well known for having various part time jobs, including a Medical Instructor at EHOVE, Discount Drug Mart, and was a home health aide as well.
Cozzie was a natural caregiver to not only her clients but family as well. She enjoyed bowling, where she is remembered as a female bowler having a 300 game. Cozzie also bowled in various adult leagues until she could no longer bowl due to her health. Cozzie participated in various line dance groups and enjoyed motorcycles. You could see and hear Cozzie cheering for her Cleveland sports teams and The Ohio State Buckeyes. In her free time, she would be watching Hallmark Movies, Lifetime, and the Game Show Network. Cozzie loved spending time with family and friends and most importantly her "gee babies."
Leaving to cherish her memories are two daughters, Conswala Johnson-North and Cortne Johnson; son, Cole Cooley, all of Sandusky; sister, Carla (Walter) Hendricks; two brothers, Troy North and Willie North, both of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, Cortez Johnson-North, Coryon Moore, CamBree Sartor, Amaree Cooley, Alakai Cooley, Coralynn Cooley, and Coziah "Cozy" Cooley; three special nieces who she raised, Elizabeth North and Paige North, both of Sandusky, and RayKetta McCurtis, of Atlanta GA; special grandniece, Zaiyonna Miller; four special grandnephews, Lamonie Campbell, Lazerion Campbell, Jordan Branch, and Jaxson Branch. Cozzie was blessed to have a strong support system that included aunts, Christine Crayton and Debbie North; sister/cousins, Gayle Short, Nina Johnson, and Francine Harris; very close friends, Kara Capizzi, Carla Thomas, Darlene White, Debbie Gearheardt, and Tracie Vettle; and a host of relatives, friends, and colleagues.
She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandparents, Florence Jones and
Will H. Jones; and granddaughter in infancy, Charleigh Johnson.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 20 from 4-6 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Visitation will also take place from 1-2 P.M. on Monday, February 21, 2022 with funeral services beginning at 2 P.M. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 224 Dixie Ave., Sandusky, where Pastor Joseph Strong will officiate. A repast will follow immediately after the funeral.
