Bernita (Parker) Schaeffer, 94, Sandusky, died Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in the Providence Care Center.
She was born on November 19, 1927 in Perkins Twp., OH, to the late Irvin Henry and Cora Henrietta (Justi) Parker, and was a 1945 graduate of Margaretta High School.
She was employed by the Castalia Elevator, Bellevue Milk Producers, as secretary and bookkeeper, and worked along side her husband on the family farm.
Bernita was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where she was past superintendant of Sunday School, and President of the Fellowship Council at the church, member of the Erie Ottawa Mental Health Board, Huron and Erie County Farm & Loan Association, Farm Bureau Women's Committee, Farm councils of North East Oxford and South Hayes, Nazarene Bible Study, and loved playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by her children, Jacalyn Baumgardner, and Donald (Roberta) Schaeffer, both of Sandusky; son-in-law, Gregory Fear; grandchildren, Shane Baumgardner, Bradley Baumgardner, Jennifer Patrick, Amy Pachasa, Melissa Graham, Robin Cramer, and Becky Copeland; and great-grandchildren, Garrett Baumgardner, Angela Baumgardner, Cora Patrick, Taylor Hamlin, Cortney Copeland, Jacob Kuhl, Madison Kuhl, Victoria Pachasa, and Andrew Pachasa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. "Bud" Schaeffer; daughter, Sharon Fear; parents; brother, George Parker, foster sister, Elizabeth Duskins; daughter-in-law, Linda Schaeffer; and son-in-law, Jerry Baumgardner.
Friends may call on Monday, February 21, 2022, from 9:30 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in St. John's United Church of Christ, 8812 Thomas Rd., Milan. Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney will officiate. The family invites everyone for the luncheon immediately following the services at the church, and then will process to Oakland Cemetery at 2 P.M. for the burial.
