Barry L. Karns, 79, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, March 18, 2022 at his daughter's home following a lengthy illness.
Barry was born on December 5, 1942 in Benton, PA to the late Bruce Karns and Leda (Bryner) Karns-Kitchen.
Barry graduated from New Port High School in 1960. He was a Veteran of the US Marines who proudly served his country as a Corporal E4 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from E & L Transport Company in 1999. Barry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Teamsters Union for 31 years. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Ohio Veterans Home. In his spare time, he enjoyed beekeeping, camping, hiking, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Barry is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Paul) Mize of Huron; grandchildren, Morgan (Rick) Bannerman, Madison and Tanner Mize; son-in-law, Dan Kautz; sister, Leda Cromer; brother, Arthur Karns, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Barry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Diana J. (Hill) Karns in 2014; daughter, Laura Kautz and brothers, Raymond Kitchen, William Karns and Ronald Karns.
Friends may call on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 9:30 am until the time of memorial services at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Pastor David Clarke will officiate.
