Marilyn J. (Windau) Smith, 88, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, March 25, 2022 at Kingston of Vermilion following a respiratory illness.
Marilyn was born on November 17, 1933 in Sandusky, OH to the late Leon and Agnes (Manner) Windau.
Marilyn graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in 1951. She had been employed at the American Greetings Company for 50 years. Marilyn also enjoyed being a merchandiser for a variety of companies to continue her love of people, social networking and staying busy. Marilyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wheel of Fortune at 7pm nightly and her monthly lunch bunch girls day out. Her greatest joy was spending time with all her family and wine hopping with her daughters and granddaughters.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Catri of Curtice, OH, Agnes (Bryon) Bauman of Huron and Karen Frederick of Bluff City, TN; sons, Timothy (Kristen) of Sandusky, Gary of Sandusky and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Smith of Sandusky; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Windau and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Smith on February 18, 2020; son, Terry Smith; great-grandson, Skylar; sister, Carol Windau and brothers, Jack, Richard, Leon"Joe", James, Thomas and Robert Windau.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Monte Hoyles will officiate. Private family burial will be held on Thursday in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
